Berlin, I went in with basically zero expectations – figured it’d be cool, bit moody, maybe a few “yeah yeah, history happened here” vibes. Instead, the place hits you with this rare mix of honesty, culture, and a kind of grounded confidence. They don’t run from their past, they stare it dead in the face and make sure no one forgets. A lot of countries could learn from that.
There’s something surreal about walking through a city that’s modern, creative, full of life… while also constantly reminding you what not to repeat as a species. You’ll go from grabbing a pastry to standing in front of a memorial that hits you in the chest and it all works together.
I walked away genuinely grateful I got to experience it.
